När de här inspelningarna gjordes hade altsaxofonisten Phil Woods flyttat till Europa, men han flög tillbaka till New York för att spela in albumet "Round trip". Woods skrev också arrangemangen till den stora orkester som backade honom. Där fanns t o m en violinsektion samt pålitliga jazzrävar som Thad Jones, Jimmy Cleveland, jerry Dodgion, Jerome Richardson, Herbie Hancock, Richard Davis och Grady Tate.
