Beskrivning:Det är som kompositör, arrangör och orkesterledare vi framför allt minns Duke Ellington. Men han var faktiskt också en pianist utöver det vanliga. Här presenteras han i två sessions med fyra års mellanrum. 1966 hade han med sig John Lamb b och Sam Woodyard dr; 1970 var medspelarna Victor Gaskin & Paul Kondziela b samt Rufus Jones dr. "Duke Ellington had so many talents (composer, arranger, bandleader, personality) that his skills as a pianist could easily be overlooked. Fortunately he did record a fair amount of trio albums through the years so there is plenty of evidence as to his unique style which was both modern and traditional at the same time.
