Flora Thompson (1876-1947) var en engelsk författare, mest känd för sin trilogi "Lark Rise to Candleford", en skildring av en försvunnen tid, övergången från ett agrart samhälle till ett modernt industrisamhälle. 

Keith Dewhurst har överfört Thompsons trilogi till teaterscenen och på den här LP:n får vi smakprov från The National Theatres tolkning. Sång och musik spelar en stor roll och The Albion Band har en stor spännvidd i sin instrumentering och har sångare som Martin Carthy, Shirley Collins m fl.
